Entain and McLaren Launch Program to Help Women Return to STEM Careers

Di admin

Entain has joined forces with McLaren Formula 1 to introduce a novel initiative focused on assisting women in their return to professional roles in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

This program, aptly named “Return to Work,” is currently accepting applications and will provide ten positions at either Entain or McLaren over a six-month period.

The objective of this endeavor is to provide support to women at various career stages. Successful applicants will receive personalized transition coaching tailored to re-entry into the workforce, flexible work arrangements, opportunities to connect with senior leadership, and discussions regarding potential permanent positions following the program’s completion.

The available roles encompass software engineers, backend developers, data scientists, and design engineers. To be eligible, candidates must be unemployed, underemployed, or undergoing retraining for a minimum of three months, possess at least two years of professional experience, and hold a STEM-related qualification or have demonstrable experience or a strong interest in technology, data, or engineering.

This new program emerges following a recent study conducted by STEM Women, which revealed that only 26% of STEM graduates are women, and a mere 24% of the STEM workforce is comprised of females.

Concerning Entain’s association, the organization states its own investigations reveal that 26% of global sports gamblers are women, whereas a study conducted by F1 indicates that 40% of enthusiasts are women.

Entain will collaborate with the existing Reboot@Ivy initiative, which assists women in returning to technology careers in Hyderabad, India, and Manila, Philippines. The program aims to enhance access to technology education and training, and promote diversity, with the objective of positively impacting over one million individuals by 2030.

“The convergence of technology, athletics, and entertainment, coupled with the desire to support skilled women re-entering the workforce, signifies that launching this novel program with our partners McLaren was an evident step,” remarked Entain CEO Jette Nygaard-Andersen.

“We are enthusiastic and dedicated to providing a platform for women to rekindle their careers in STEM fields. We hope that through this initiative, we can not only support a generation of aspiring women presently, but also inspire future generations of girls to achieve their STEM aspirations.”

The announcement also follows Formula One’s declaration last month regarding the establishment of a fully female Formula One racing series, the F1 Academy, for young drivers.

McLaren Racing’s top executive, Zak Brown, stated that this initiative presents a unique opportunity to completely transform the fields of engineering and technology. This endeavor aligns with McLaren’s dedication to making STEM professions more attainable for all individuals and achieving a workforce composition where 40% of its employees come from underrepresented communities by the year 2030.
