Allwyn is delighted to declare its backing for the 2024 Wings for Life World Run, a worldwide gathering occurring on May 5th. This distinctive competition accumulates funds for spinal cord injury studies, with each registration fee and contribution proceeding directly toward this vital undertaking.

As a global associate, Allwyn, the administrator of the UK National Lottery, is dedicated to advancing the occasion and amplifying its influence. The previous year’s run garnered an astounding €43 million (or $45.8 million USD), showcasing the remarkable altruism of participants globally.

What distinguishes the Wings for Life World Run is its embrace of all. Individuals of every capacity are invited to partake – whether they opt to stroll, jog, or use a wheelchair.

Pavel Turek, Global Brand, Corporate Communications and CSR Director at Allwyn, highlighted the mutual principles of the collaboration, remarking, “Allwyn is devoted to inclusivity and contributing to the community, which aligns flawlessly with the ethos of the Wings for Life World Run.” He continued, “We are pleased to be an official global associate of this one-of-a-kind and motivating event for the second year in a row.”

The event’s structure is unlike any other competition. There’s no predetermined finish line. Rather, 30 minutes following the commencement, a virtual “Catcher Car” starts to trail the participants, progressively accelerating. Once the Catcher Car overtakes you, your race concludes. This persists until each participant across the globe has been overtaken.

As Turek fittingly expressed, “Everyone can be at the same starting point, running or walking, and regardless of how we participate, we are all ultimately victorious.”

Paralympics GB’s leader, Nick Webborn, stressed the significance of accessibility in athletics as the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games draw near. He underscored the organization’s objective to foster a more inclusive society for individuals with disabilities through the impact of athletic competition.

Webborn’s remarks coincided with Allwyn’s backing of the Wings for Life World Run, a worldwide philanthropic event resonating with Allwyn’s company principles. He commended the company’s dedication to the initiative and the engagement of its 7,000 staff members in the run, spanning Austria, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Greece, Cyprus, the UK, and the US.

The Wings for Life World Run generates financial support for spinal cord injury investigations. Mark Hermans, the event’s organizer, discussed the profound consequences of spinal cord injuries and how Allwyn’s assistance contributes to enhancing the lives of those impacted.

In related charitable gaming developments, the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) revealed that the National Racehorse Week charitable wagering day in 2024 garnered over £15,000 (roughly $18,662) for worthy endeavors.
