The Choctaw Nation marked the commencement of construction on a new travel center in Louisville, Mississippi. Situated on an 18-acre tribal property, the $18 million development will house 150 gaming machines, a sports wagering area, and 3,000 square feet designated for retail and food service. Projected to generate approximately 100 employment opportunities, the center will operate around the clock.

Chief Cyrus Ben of the Choctaw Nation conveyed his enthusiasm for the endeavor, emphasizing its positive financial impact on both the tribe and the local area. He also revealed a tribe-wide competition to select a name for the new establishment. The groundbreaking event was graced by the presence of tribal authorities, government representatives, and officials from the offices of the Louisville Mayor, the Lieutenant Governor, and Congressman Michael Guest.

The Louisville rest area is scheduled to relaunch in the summer of 2024, boasting a fresh title and aesthetic!

โ€œI, Chief Ben, the leader of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, am honored to be striving to deliver enhanced resources to our community,โ€ remarked Chief Ben.
