Gambling establishments in the bustling metropolis of London contribute significantly to the city’s financial well-being, generating in excess of a billion pounds, equivalent to $1.26 billion in US dollars! The wagering sector is naturally pleased with this revenue stream and is encouraging the government to expedite its plans to revamp casino regulations.

The BGC has expressed its approval of the government’s suggestions, which encompass enabling casinos to embrace digital transactions, modernizing the guidelines governing slot machines, and granting all casinos the ability to provide sports wagering. They contend that these modifications will empower casinos in the UK to contend effectively and expand.

The government has also indicated its intention to collaborate with the Gambling Commission to determine the most effective methods for safeguarding players, particularly in relation to the utilization of debit cards at slot machines.

The BGC is in full support of these adjustments but urges the government to proceed swiftly, allowing businesses to commence enhancements to their customer offerings. As articulated by Michael Dugher, the departing CEO of BGC, casinos constitute a crucial element of the UK’s leisure, hospitality, and tourism industries. They perceive this initiative by the government as a positive stride towards fostering a competitive and flourishing casino sector within the UK.

“These suggestions are appreciated, but the priority should be on swift action with defined deadlines for the implementation of the proposed modifications. We encourage the Government to expedite the legislative process with a clear timeline, enabling these proposals to be enacted and our constituents to reap the benefits.”

“Archaic legislation, a relic of what many perceive as an outdated perspective on the casino sector, has long hindered casinos. The BGC and our affiliates have advocated for these updated measures for years, aiming to empower casinos to modernize, innovate, and expand. We applaud the Government’s readiness to facilitate this progress.”

On a separate note, the BGC reported that a charity football game hosted at QPR’s Loftus Road stadium, featuring journalists and Members of Parliament, and backed by bet365, generated over £50,000 for SportsAid.
